Po zah\u00e1jen\u00ed procesu normalizace, po sov\u011btsk\u00e9 okupaci v roce 1968, se v\u0161ak v\u00fdstavba metra za\u010dala realizovat podle vzoru moskevsk\u00e9ho podzem\u00ed. Nam\u00edsto podzemn\u00edch tramvaj\u00ed tu za\u010daly jezdit sov\u011btsk\u00e9 soupravy a stanice m\u011bly n\u00e1stupn\u00ed per\u00f3n uprost\u0159ed, co\u017e se ov\u0161em jev\u00ed z hlediska p\u0159ehledu a pohybu cestuj\u00edc\u00edch jako v\u00fdhodn\u011bj\u0161\u00ed. Neb\u00fdt tedy normaliza\u010dn\u00edho procesu na p\u0159elomu 60. a 70. let, mo\u017en\u00e1 bychom dodnes jezdili v pra\u017esk\u00e9m podzem\u00ed v tramvaj\u00edch.Kdy se za\u010dalo jezdit v Praze vpravo \u2013 ka\u017ed\u00e9mu z v\u00e1s p\u0159ipad\u00e1 samoz\u0159ejm\u00e9, \u017ee je volant um\u00edst\u011bn\u00fd na lev\u00e9 stran\u011b, a \u017ee se vozidlo pohybuje v prav\u00e9m j\u00edzdn\u00edm pruhu. T\u00e9to zvyklosti se u\u010d\u00ed i mal\u00e9 d\u011bti v dopravn\u00ed v\u00fdchov\u011b, ale nebylo tomu tak v\u017edy. Je\u0161t\u011b za prvn\u00ed republiky se u n\u00e1s jezdilo vlevo, jako dnes nap\u0159. v Anglii \u010di v Austr\u00e1lii. \u010ceskoslovensko se sice zav\u00e1zalo ve 30. letech minul\u00e9ho stolet\u00ed ke zm\u011bn\u011b podle vzoru v\u011bt\u0161iny evropsk\u00fdch zem\u00ed, ale \u017e\u00e1dn\u00e1 vl\u00e1da se tohoto z\u00e1vazku neujala. Provedli to a\u017e nacisti\u010dt\u00ed okupanti v b\u0159eznu 1939, a to velmi razantn\u011b. Nekompromisn\u011b bylo nutn\u00e9 ihned p\u0159ehazovat tramvajov\u00e9 v\u00fdhybky, prov\u00e1d\u011bt zm\u011bny v koleji\u0161ti a dal\u0161\u00ed z\u00e1sahy do hromadn\u00e9 dopravy. N\u00e1ro\u010dn\u00e9 to bylo hlavn\u011b na v\u011bt\u0161\u00edch tramvajov\u00fdch k\u0159i\u017eovatk\u00e1ch, nap\u0159. na Palack\u00e9ho n\u00e1m\u011bst\u00ed u Vltavy.
